Mro. Mario Vella Cordina ATCL, AmusTCL, DipLCM

Biography 

Born in 1996, in a musically cultured family, Mro. Mario Vella Cordina is currently living in Victoria Gozo. He started his musical education with the Leone Philharmonic Society of the Victoria Gozo in percussions in 2002. In 2005 he started to take lessons at the Gozo School of Music in the theory of music, pianoforte, and drumkit. In 2008, Vella Cordina started to take tutoring under the Trinity College London and followed with an ATCL Diploma in Drumkit in 2013. During the successive year, he achieved the AmusTCL Diploma in the theory of music from the same Trinity College London. From 2015, Vella Cordina also holds the DipLCM Diploma from the London College of Music in pianoforte. As a performer, in May 2010 he performed a composition of his own to the Italian Ambassador for Malta on a visit to the Gozo College Boys Secondary School, while in 2012 he formed part of the percussion section at the joint concert of the Gozo Youth Orchestra and the Eurode Youth Symphony Orchestra of Herzogenrath Germany. At few instances also, he featured in various concerts and functions at various different venues including the Gozo Cathedral, and St. Francis Church Victoria. In 2012, Vella Cordina founded the Sinfonia Music Group a local enterprise that comprises all kinds of musical services; from musical ensemble to vocal ensemble to orchestra and music libraries. Together with his enterprise, where he holds the posts of General Director and Musical Director, Vella Cordina made a name both as a conductor and composer. Organized and conducted concerts at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora; 29th April 1956 Hall, the Gozo Cathedral, St. Augustine Church, and the Gozo Ministry Function Hall, all in Victoria, featuring compositions of his own.
